Seminars in Translational Science

We are looking forward to meeting our collaborator Dr. Elda Grabocka from Thomas Jefferson University and Jefferson Health at TRON on March 23rd and to hearing about her research findings within her talk “The Dynamic Life of Stress Granules: Linking Cell Cycle, Metabolism, and Pancreatic Cancer”.

Dr. Grabocka’s research investigates the relationship between metabolic dysfunction, cellular stress, and pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC). Her research thereby uncovered a central role for stress granules in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC). Amongst others, her lab discovered that oncogenic KRAS controls cellular fitness through stress granule regulation and has since established stress granules as critical drivers of obesity-associated PDAC and key determinants of chemotherapy response, with publications in Cell, Cancer Discovery, and Cancer Cell. Her current work extends into the link between MASLD and PDAC. Dr. Grabocka has been recognized with an NCI R37 MERIT Award, the V Foundation Scholar Award, and the Margaret Q. Landenberger Award.
