Inspiring exchange at CIMT 2026: Advancing cancer immunotherapy together
From May 11 to 13, 2026, the 23rd CIMT Annual Meeting took place at the Rheingoldhalle Congress Center in Mainz, bringing together 565 participants from 25 countries, 23 international speakers, and 66 industry exhibitors. As Europe’s leading conference on cancer immunotherapy, CIMT once again provided a dynamic platform for scientific exchange and collaboration.
The meeting featured cutting-edge research across key areas of the field, including cellular therapies, novel targets, and emerging technologies. Engaging discussions and high-level scientific presentations highlighted the rapid progress in translating immunological insights into innovative treatment strategies.
A central theme of this year’s meeting was captured in the opening remarks by CIMT President Özlem Türeci, who emphasized the shared goal of the community: to bring effective therapies to each and every patient. She underlined that this ambition requires not only celebrating scientific and clinical successes, but also deepening our understanding of underlying mechanisms and advancing promising discoveries into the clinic with greater determination.
As Özlem Türeci emphasized: “We are driven by the question of how to bring efficient therapies to each and every patient.”
CIMT once again demonstrated its role as a forum where researchers, clinicians, and industry partners come together to exchange ideas, engage in constructive debate, and initiate new collaborations that drive the field forward.
Particularly inspiring was the strong presence of early-career researchers. Addressing the next generation of scientists, Özlem Türeci encouraged them to actively shape the future of cancer immunotherapy: “You are not only here to listen—you will shape the future. Stay curious. The field needs the energy of the next generation.”
The meeting atmosphere in Mainz reflected the spirit of the CIMT community: collaborative, forward-looking, and united by the ambition to improve patient outcomes through innovative immunotherapies.
The community is already looking ahead to the next edition: the 24th CIMT Annual Meeting is scheduled for May 2027.
