curATalk seminar series
We are looking forward to our upcoming curATalk by Prof. G. Daniel Dürr, who is Section Chief of Pediatric and Adult Congenital Heart Surgery at the Department of Cardiovascular Surgery, University Medical Center Mainz. During his talk about “Modern cardiac surgery and basic research - crossing the translational divide” he will show us how important cardiac surgery is for implementing new strategies for cardiovascular research.
Within the Department of Cardiovascular Surgery Daniel is leading a multidisciplinary team dedicated to providing state-of-the-art care and advancing innovative surgical techniques. Next to his surgical work, he is focusing on translation of research projects which encompass myocardial inflammation, fibrosis, and cell-based therapies, with the goal of developing preventive and individualized treatments. That is why Danial is also playing a crucial role in providing samples for the curATarget project of our curATime Cluster.
The curATalk will be held online via zoom. Click here to join the virtual lecture.
curATime - Cluster for Atherothrombosis and Individualized Medicine - is our collaborative cluster for future which we initiated with the University Medical Center Mainz, the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI) and many more partners. The cluster is initially funded by the BMBF for three years. Within curATime, we want to reduce the incidence and impact of cardiovascular diseases, which is the leading cause of death worldwide.
