Seminars in Translational Science

We are excited to welcome our guest speaker Mirco Julian Friedrich from the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) at TRON on April 28th and to learn more about his latest research during his talk, “Engineering immune resilience to target cancer and aging.”

Mirco Julian Friedrich is a physician-scientist working at the intersection of synthetic immunology, hematology, and computational biology. He is Principal Investigator at the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ), where he leads the Department of Hematology and Immune Engineering, and practices at Heidelberg University Hospital. Trained in Heidelberg, Harvard, MIT, and London, Mirco’s research focuses on in vivo T cell engineering, T cell receptor discovery, and mRNA-based immune modulation. He leads Germany’s first clinical trial of a genome-edited cell therapy. His work has been recognized with numerous awards, including Forbes 30 Under 30, the MIT McGovern Institute Technology Award, and the Kind-Philipp Prize of the GPOH, among other international distinctions.
