EIC Pathfinder Yscript

mRNA bioproduction in yeast.

TRON is part of the EU-funded Yscript consortium that will develop a tailor-made yeast-based messenger RNA factory platform for large scale and cost-effective manufacturing of mRNA therapeutics.

Middle East Cooperation

German-Israeli research cooperation.

Together with the Weizmann Institute of Science in Israel, TRON is developing rationally-designed cancer vaccines that target intratumoral heterogeneity. This three-year cooperation is funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG).

BioNTech

BioNTech as clinical development partner.

Our longstanding cooperation partner BioNTech moves our commonly developed therapeutic technologies and immunotherapeutic approaches into clinical trials to benefit patients. One success story is the development of a pipeline for mRNA-based individualized cancertherapy for melanoma, colorectal carcinomas and other solid tumors. TRON technologies have also been integrated into BioNTech‘s Comirnaty® vaccine development.

CRC1066

CRC1066 “Nanodimensional polymer therapeutics for tumor therapy”.

Since 2017, TRON is a member of the Collaborative Research Center CRC1066, with the mandate to advance the development of new multi-functional nanoparticulate drug carriers. Together with partners from the University Medical Center Mainz and Johannes Gutenberg University, TRON focuses on approaches for immunotherapy of malignant melanoma.

Joint Unit Immunopathology

Cooperation with the University Medical Center Mainz

One example of our close collaboration with the University Medical Center Mainz is the "Joint Unit Immunopathology", which has been established in 2019. Together with our collaborating partner, the Institute of Pathology of the University Medical Center, we primarily investigate immunomodulatory processes in tumor tissues.

curATime

curATime - Our cluster in cooperation with the University Medical Center Mainz, the DFKI and many other partners

The first implementation phase of our ‘Cluster4Future’, funded by the BMBF, has been running since March 2023. Here, we are developing a tailored treatment for atherothrombosis-related cardiovascular diseases. Disease-relevant mechanisms are targeted by AI- and mRNA-based technologies.
