curATalk Seminar Series

Our next speaker within the curATime seminar series is Prof Dr Klaus Ley from the Immunology Center of Georgia, Augusta University, USA. Everyone who is interested is welcome to join his talk "Breaking Tolerance: The Autoimmune Aspect of Atherosclerosis" on June 12th, at 5 pm.

Prof Ley’s research focusses on the role our immune response plays in atherosclerosis, particularly on the immune recognition of oxidation-specific epitopes and how these responses can be exploited to protect from atherosclerotic lesion formation. He is the co-director of the Immunology Center of Georgia, Augusta University in the USA, he holds the GRA Bradley Turner Eminent Scholar Chair in Immunology and is Professor of Physiology at the Medical College of Georgia.

curATime - Cluster for Atherosclerosis and Individualized Medicine - is our collaborative future cluster which we initiated with the core partners University Medical Center Mainz and the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI) and many more partners. The cluster is funded by the BMBF. Within curATime, we want to reduce the incidence and impact of cardiovascular diseases, which is the leading cause of death worldwide.
