Head of Sequencing at Michael Smith Genome Sciences Centre, Vancouver, Canada

“Genomic analysis of tumour infection & immunity”

Dr. Robert Holt received his PhD in Pharmacology from the University of Alberta in 1998, and then moved to the State University of New York for his post-doctoral fellowship in Molecular Evolution. Since 2002 Dr. Holt is Head of Sequencing at Michel Smith Genome Sciences Centre, BC Cancer Agency. He is co-director of the Genome Canada/Genome British Columbia Genomics platform and he is an Associate Professor of Molecular Biology and Biochemistry at Simon Fraser University. He also holds an appointment at the University of British Columbia. Previously Dr. Holt was a PI at Celera Genomics and had a key role in sequencing the human and numerous model organism genomes.
Dr. Holt’s research group is applying genomics methods to problems in immunology, neurobiology, evolutionary biology, synthetic biology and metagenomics.
